There are many reasons why you would want to learn German. Perhaps you want to learn how

to chat up local girls, perhaps you want to know how to order a beer at the oktoberfest.

Those reasons are fun, but many people also want to learn German for business reasons.

And that would be a very good reason to learn German. After all, Germany is still the

industrial powerhouse of Europe. There are huge industries such as automotive (heard of

Porsche, Mercedes or Audi?) that many people from overseas are keen to work in.

And while most people in Germany speak good English, it certainly doesn’t hurt to learn

some German. The question I get asked most often is, so how do I go about this? I have found that the best way to learn for beginners is with software like Rosetta Stone German.

This is helpful because it takes you from beginner to compentant speaker. You won’t be fluent when you’re done, but you’ll know enough to get by. I have a friend who works for BMW in Bavaria who said that Rosetta Stone German really helped him survive his first few months in Germany.

He was telling me that while people spoke English well, he was received much better when he spoke in German. The locals definitely appreciated his efforts and it led to lot’s more fun and interesting stories.
