Everyone says that this economy is terrible and is going to get worse. Just look at the word in the newspapers and on the internet. So many people are declaring bankruptcy and so many more people are unemployed or losing their jobs and homes. The banks have just been awarded by our Congress (should I capitalize it?) three hundred and fifty billion dollars in order to jump start our economy, in order to help businesses who are in trouble and people who are losing their homes. What have the banks done with the money? Some are keeping it for themselves, for their own benefit, for their own acquiring, greed and avaricious fulfillment. Congress (should I capitalize it?) awarded banks in this country so many billions of our dollars, the people’s money, our taxes, not to enrich their coffers but to help us, the country, to bolster our sinking economy. But they did not institute a contractual agreement with the banks requiring them to deal with the money in a certain way. They just gave them the money! This is outrageous. The banks are not helping the population they are helping themselves. It’s unconscionable! How can these bank executives sit there with all that money and not do what‘s right for the people?
